On the nose there is more leaf and less gravel than the 07, along with some lovely aromas of violets, blackcurrant, and chocolate oak. The overall impression is one of savouriness on the palate, and the good acidity and grippy tannins give the wine an excellent texture. Chocolate oak is there again in support. A great food Cabernet that is going to age a treat. I’m looking forward to lining up this wine next to the 07, when they’ve both got a decade under their belts.

You forgot one thing Red, it's a great wine to sip at while reading a Brown opinion piece. ;)
I had the 08 at a tasting a few weeks back and was rather smitten - I had it at 94/95 and thought it better than the 07. Fast forward a few weeks to when I'm actually sitting at home drinking a bottle and I completely agree with your first two lines here. I probably preferred the leaner qualities of the 07 at a similar age.
I guess I'm a sucker for good smelling cabernets at tastings!

Vasse Fleix produces some great reds and the Cabernet Sauvignon variety is well renowned in Margaret River. Thanks for you thoughts, I look forward to making the comparison myself, although i have to admit waiting a decade could be a bit tricky. :)
